Sunquest has conducted exhaustive tests with its lamp manufacturer, Havells Sylvania, to ensure that all its products now carry the Future Fit guarantee and are fully compliant with the new 0.3W/m^2 legislation. (For more information about the European legislation, click here.)
Over the past year, extensive development and lamp testing has been conducted in partnership with Havells Sylvania, in order to maximize tanning performance, and to meet the tanning requirements of the new legislation.
“To achieve maximum tanning performance, it is vital to use manufacturer-approved lamps—that is why we have carried out meticulous testing and development work with Havells Sylvania,” says Gary Hobson, sales director for Sunquest. “The 0.3W/m^2 legislation is all about reduced-power output; the lamp trials we have conducted allow us to achieve the best possible tanning performance within the parameters of the new legislation. Remember, minimum tanning times for maximum tanning effect can only be achieved with lamps that have been thoroughly tested in the manufacturer’s equipment. Any 0.3W/m^2 lamps that have not been subjected to rigorous tests in equipment may cause irradiance of more than 0.3W/m^2—which becomes illegal under the new regulations—or much lower irradiance, which requires much longer tanning session times.”
Hobson adds that there is a great deal of confusion about how 0.3W/m^2 will impact current equipment in the European tanning market, and he stresses that simply changing lamps on older beds will not be the answer.
