Hot on the heels of a British hotel chain offering “spraycations” – a free spray tan with a night’s paid lodging – London’s Gatwick Airport launched a free sunless tanning lounge. Dubbed “Gatwick Glow,” the airport tanning room came about thanks to onsite research. Apparently travelers confessed a lack of confidence in sporting their untanned bodies at their vacation locales; something they felt a little added color to the skin would alleviate.

The airport survey revealed the following conclusions:

•Travelers were more concerned about their lack of a tan than they were about being overweight.

•Nearly one-third of respondents said their pale disposition was the biggest dread of their vacations.

•Female travelers were less concerned about being pale than were male passengers.

The airport partnered with St. Tropez to offer the free spray-tan promotion for a limited time.
