A study out of Spain’s University of Valencia indicates that one-third of the sun’s UV comes right through beach umbrellas – and on to whomever is underneath them. The details of the study revealed that diffused radiation is able to pass through the intended sun blocker through the sides. The news may come as a surprise to those outdoor enthusiasts who think they are controlling their sun exposure.
